Please give me advise for building my first SMTP server.

I am new in linux world.
I am going to build a mail server on FC5,
the role of machine is Spam filtering,
virus detection, and deliver(forward) the mail to my another mail server.

For learning purpose, I would like to pratice the POP3, IMAP and Web interface.

I am planning to use Qmail/postfix with FC5 in my job.

Thanks a lot for any advise.

I would like to know what software combination is better for my requirement.
Some people said qmail is no longer a good option,
They suggest using postfix.

I'd suggest Postfix or Sendmail. Qmail is a pain in the ass to maintain. Sure some swear by it but then again, they've never had to administer it in the real world with hundreds of users and keep it up to date, etc. Postfix and Sendmail give you just about everything you need in a MTA without the bazillion packages and compiles in order to get working just the way you like..
