oracle 10g express in ubuntu via vmware

hi

i was able to get oracle express installed on an ubuntu 7 instance running on vmware workstation and it seems like the service is running ok at boot up. however i cannot get into the oracle database admin homepage e.g. http://192.168.0.X:8080/apex

I have deactivated Tomcat thinking the ports conflicted but this did not resolve this. I have enabled the port on the network router. Any ideas on how I might fix this? Thanks.
