OpenLDAP + samba replication

I am working in a multi branch University and I was just wondering if it would be possible to build a multi site (replication) OpenLDAP server + samba replication. After some research on the web I found out that it is possible to keep slave instances of OpenLDAP in all the branches but I haven't found anything about replicating the samba contents over the WAN (over all the branches).

So, does anybody here knows if it is possible?

If it is possible, do you guys think it's a good or bad idea? I'm open for new/better ideas. :)

Thank you very in advance!

My thoughts were some VPN connections, but I don't know it. Probably it would mean "many-to-many" VPN connections opened, which would be probably not acceptable.

Yes , you can configure your OpenLDAP server + samba and replication you have to configure into openldap.
