Opening telnet port

Hi,
I would like to open a telnet port on port 4080 for access outside my network. I have a Solaris 9 server.

I currently have port 4080 opened on my firewall. When I do a:

netstat -a -f inet | grep LISTEN | more

I see the following:

scrapper-n-1.4080 listening

I can telnet to my server on scrapper-n-1 4080, but only from the local host. I would like to be able to telnet to my server from outside my network on port 4080.

Also, when I try to connect from outside the network, the error message I receive is:
Could not open connection to the host, on port 4080: Connect failed.

,
msteiner

It's most likely blocked elsewhere on your network. You should really use ssh instead if this is for remote login purposes, telnet is highly insecure as it is not encrypted data and passes thru as plain text, giving anyone free access to sniff and see passwords and other data you might not be willing or wanting to provide.
