Open source program to strip email attachments?

Is there a way to strip attachments from emails, but keep them in a specified folder?? I am using procmail-postfix.
Better yet, is there an open source code that will allow me to do that?

I would like to take all attachments and send them to a program, then send the result back to the sender. So, the biggest challenge right now is to detach the attachment from the email. How can I do that?

Thank you in advance,
Chirag
