Hi,
I am trying to configure mail server.I am able to open the login page of squirrel mail but when logging as a mail user with username and password I get the error message "could not connect to imapserver.
I have tested dovecot through telnet,it is working, even i am able to login as a user through telnet. Please help
dovecot support the Imap,imaps,pop3,pop3s,if dovecot service is down then the same problem exist.
Please check above commands if your dovecot service is down.
One possibility would be that dovecot is listening only on your public IP address and SquirrelMail is getting refused when trying to connect to localhost. If this is the case you will need to set SquirrelMail to connect to the public IP.
If the above is not the case.
Are dovecot and SquirrelMail located on the machine?
When you did your telnet test did you connect via localhost or was the test done remotely?
Are you running a firewall?
hi,
Dovecot and squirremail both are on the m/c.Telnet was done remotely.Yes i am running a firewall port 110.143,995,993 are included in the firewall.
If the only error is "connection refused" when trying to connect to IMAP. Then try your telnet test again from localhost and connect to the same hostname that squirrelmail is. Doing this will at least rule out Dovecot/Firewall or PHP/SquirrelMail.
What i meant is....try to disable the firewall by running the following command after your #prompt. It will open a blue screen depending on the Redhat version that you have.
#system-config-securitylevel
Disable both Firewall options and SELinux options and try to sign again into squirrelmail
I have installed mysql, php, apache2, clamav, spamassassin, exim(which i compiled with vexim options) and vexim.
I can get my vexim on the browser but i cannot login. After entering the username ans password it gives me "Login Failed"
Where could the problem be?
Dear Paulmwiu,
Iam getting nowhere by the command system-config-securitylevel-tui.No output. However i did get responce by command system-config-securitylevel which i had posted earlier.
Thanks
