nmbd is not running

I have a Samba server on RH5 and suddenly I revealed that clients cannot access samba server using its hostname - only via IP .

In tcpdump I saw messages that client was unabel to establish connection with 137 port on the samba server . This port refers to the nmbd service .
I verified with netstat if nmbd is running - it is not .

Reinstalled samba packages - didn't help .

What may be a problem ?

/Vlad .

Uh, have you tried starting the service?

service nmb restart

It's not started with the smb daemon, as far as I know.

You have to start both nmbd and smbd.
