Nfs_service_fails_to_start_after_removing_from_ldap_authentication

Hi ,

The nfs service fails to start after the "localhost" machine has been removed from the ldap client. It is using local authentication information.

Please let me know how to start the service without the below error messages. So that i can easily access the mounts over the network.

Starting NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS quotas: rpc.rquotad: ldap-nss.c:1319: do_init: Assertion `cfg->ldc_uris[__session.ls_current_uri] != ((void *)0)' failed.
/bin/bash: line 1: 3312 Aborted rpc.rquotad
[FAILED]
Starting NFS daemon: [FAILED]
[root@localhost-Thu Dec 17 ~]# service nfs restart
Shutting down NFS mountd: [FAILED]
Shutting down NFS daemon: [ OK ]
Shutting down NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS quotas: rpc.rquotad: ldap-nss.c:1319: do_init: Assertion `cfg->ldc_uris[__session.ls_current_uri] != ((void *)0)' failed.
/bin/bash: line 1: 3378 Aborted rpc.rquotad
[FAILED]
Starting NFS daemon: [ OK ]
Starting NFS mountd: rpc.mountd: ldap-nss.c:1319: do_init: Assertion `cfg->ldc_uris[__session.ls_current_uri] != ((void *)0)' failed.
/bin/bash: line 1: 3395 Aborted rpc.mountd
[FAILED]

Thumbs up Resolved_nfs_service_fails_to_start_after_removing_from_ldap_client

The issue has been resolved now.

Cause:- The error message appeared after the below changes went on:-
1. The machine was removed from the ldap client authentication
2. The machine was made to authenticate using the local account information.
Resolution:-
1. Edit the file /etc/nsswitch.conf using the vi editor.
2. Look for the below lines

/**Before changing**/
protocols: files ldap
services: files ldap
/**After changing**/
protocols: files
services: files

3. service nfs restart
Shutting down NFS mountd: [ OK ]
Shutting down NFS daemon: [ OK ]
Shutting down NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS quotas: [ OK ]
Starting NFS daemon: [ OK ]
Starting NFS mountd: [ OK ]
