NFS server lockd problem

I'm having a problem with nfs clients not able to lock files. I get that classic lockd server not responding message. rpcinfo -p on the server shows no nlockmgr and when I try rpcinfo -u localhost nlockmgr on the server I get:
rpcinfo: RPC: Program not registered
program 100021 is not available

I got no clue, any ideas?

NFS is a mystery. The server had already rebooted before for another reason, so dont know why lockd wasnt working. But rebooting it once more got it back online. its the end of the day, i'm going home.
