nfs not useful with wireless connection

Hello Everyone,

I am still not satisfied with my nfs share on my server and accessing it from my laptop wirelessly. It seems to me that something must be done - or some other method of sharing files must be used - if I am to ever find this to be useful.

The problem I have is that while transfering files between computers my laptop often hangs for an extended amount of time. Sometimes it almost stops responding. Transfer speeds max out at about 1 Mbit/sec but very quickly average out to something like 15 kbyte/sec. To transfer 20 megabytes it takes around 30 minutes.

Is anyone experiencing complete success using nfs and connecting to it wirelessly? I know I'm not the only one having problems... google lists a lot of similar problems, but the solutions are all stabs in the dark.

P.S. Connected via ethernet cat 5 - I'm flying @ ~ 10 Mbit/sec the whole time.

Oh !
That is very slow.
Can you tell me the wireless configuration ? Radio A or B/G ?
in case it is radio B/G, is there any microwave oven running which can affect the radio A signals ? This can
drastically increase the iterference and bring down the speed.

Currently my router is set to wireless G only (it was b/g). I though changing it would help improve my situation... but it hasn't.

I haven't noticed that it has coincided with any microwave usage.

After further investigating it appears to be writing that is slow as hell, reading seems to be fine at ~ 2 Mbit/sec.
