Hello all,

We're newbies in the Linux Server venue, and we recently purchased Red Hat 5 Server. We're attempting to configure the software and join Active Directory as a member server.

Please excuse me if I'm asking a question that has been asked many times over, but can anyone point us to documetation related to joining a Red Hat v5 Server to an Active Directory Domain? There are a few prompts where we're not exactly sure about what to enter.

We've been searching for any docs for a couple of days now, and although we've found a lot of info on previous versions of LRH we're not finding anything on v5.

The process to do this with RHEL5 is the same as atleast RHEL4 (personal experience).
You should look at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/...ts.html#adssdm (this is specific to AD, but I recommend you read more of the SAMBA guide in the same place as it will give you a grounding for what is going on)

I also found the stuff posted by Scott Lowe helpful (http://blog.scottlowe.org/2006/08/08...-r2-revisited/) Not sure if you are using Win2k3R2 or pre-R2, but there are resources at the same site for pre-r2.

Again, don't be too concerned with the version of RHEL as the config files are the same across many versions of RHEL and Fedora - I assume other distros too - but don't have experience with those.
