/net and /misc directories on Linux server

I am running tripwire on a Redhat 5 server and these are getting flagged as violations.

Can someone tell me what the /net and /misc directories are for?

And the /root/.xauthXXXXXX files are added and removed for?

I assume the /root/.xauthxxxxx are terminals opening and closing and are probably typical. I'm not sure about the /net and /misc though.

Thanks.

Those are automounted directories. See /etc/auto.master and autofs.

Did not need autofs so I turned the service off and not having violations any more. Thanks AlucardZero.
