need suggestion for syslog server

Hi,

I need to build up syslog server for the network with 200 servers and network devices. I am planning to implement it on linux based server. I want your expert advice on which GPL syslog software and what hardware spec should I use. Thanks in advance....

Hi,

I am the maintainer of the rsyslog project. It is a modern syslogd with many capabilities. It is planned to become the stock syslogd in Fedora 8. In my opinion (of course), it is also quite easy to configure.

Thanks for the advice. I will check both syslog-ng and rsyslog. Since maintainer is here to help. I should go with rsyslog. I really appreciate for your responses.

If you run into any problems, please let me know. I am looking for as much testing as possible, this shall become the stable build in the not too distant future
