Again as you need to generate reports i means you are already generating reports or from now onwards you will be generating report.
Well your friends have given you a good suggestion about SARG.
SARG is Squid Analysis Report Generator is a tool that allow you to view "where" your users are going to on the Internet.
This is the link from where you can Download SARG rpm http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/sarg/.
And one more thing pls give the details so that i can you perfect solution.
Hope this help . Thank you.

Do you just need to know that an IM transaction has occured, or are you trying to identify that to a user? Or to an ip address? Or something else?
If you are trying to do something like identify the user, that may be, err, interesting depending on how you set up your network. Do you, for example use DHCP to hand out IP addresses?

You already said that you do not want to know the conversations; I know that. Please re-read my post and try to understand it.
You have said that you want to identify a user.
So, what do you intend to do to identify the user, bearing in mind that, in using DHCP, an IP doesn't necessarily correlate to a computer and, more generally, a computer doesn't necessarily correlate to a user?
So, as far as I can tell from the information that you have posted so far, you are putting effort into collecting information that does not tell you anything that you want. I am unclear how will that help.
Also, given that you haven't posted anything about your location, and I probably wouldn't know much about the legal situation there, I can't really comment on whether what you are doing is legal or not, but I would encourage you to avoid doing things that are illegal.

Identification by user-name with host-name is good
I am from INDIA .The management want to know the traffic and users activity on the internet on office hours .Till date We don't have any restriction .
In future we need to do some restrictions on the internet usage like website blocking ,streaming video like before we need a report.
I installed Squid and Running without any trouble .Logging started .now i need to move to generate the reports

Well, there was answering the questions, for a start. I don't know why everybody else answers these questions, but having been helped by the community, I'm trying to help the community in return.
If you structure your questioning so as to minimise the help to the community, then I'm not interested (and the private e-mail didn't help).
I hope that you find a satisfactory way of solving your problem, whatever that is.
