named fail

There's not much else I can give you guys right now. About every 8-9 minutes i get a new email saying:

Quote:
named failed @ Sun Sep 21 00:11:49 2008. A restart was attempted automagically.
That's all that's in the email. Is there some log file that I can copy to here to better isolate the problem? This shouldn't be a permission problem (there's only root and 1 other user), and I am in the middle of trying to setup DNS config, in which I may have something wrong.

cpanel is trying to start named, but named is failing to start. So you get email alerts.

Look in your /var/log/messages log file.

Quote:
tail -f /var/log/messages | grep named
The above command should output are relevant details regarding the named daemon. Secondly, you're receiving the emails because for some reason named is failing and chkservd daemon which checks for services and restarts them if found to be not running is performing a check every 8 minutes. Since named is not running, it's being restarted and an email is being sent to your email address.

You may also check your named configuration file for any syntax errors,

Quote:
named-checkconf /etc/named.conf
