mysql - servername-bin.00* files

I have a machine that is filling up with servername-bin.001,
servername-bin.002 files. I have deleted some of them but they keep popping up and fill up the server. Is there any way to get rid of these files
permanently?

Thanks for any help.

Don't do that, use this page:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/...ster-logs.html & see expire_logs_days. See also http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/...pire_logs_days
Basically set the config to automatically remove old files.
you may need to use the RESET cmd if you've confused it by doing manual deletions. See the pages referenced.
