MySQL goes to sleep & web-site hangs indefinetely...

Every now and then our web-site hangs for unknown reason. It looks like it waits for a response from server and does nothing. It may last for a several minutes. Then it may show desired page or not. It happens suddenly with no observable reason. The same page may load in second and may last for minutes. We've looked for everything. Tried query and page caching. But it didn't help. Has anyone any clue what maybe the reason?

Here is the screenshot of mysql processlist. Right at this moment someone is hanged and cann't load a page

Quote:
mysql> show processlist;
+--------+--------------+-----------+--------------+---------+------+-------+------------------+
| Id | User | Host | db | Command | Time | State | Info |
+--------+--------------+-----------+--------------+---------+------+-------+------------------+
| 172489 | admin_soccer | localhost | admin_soccer | Sleep | 55 | | NULL |
| 172504 | admin_soccer | localhost | admin_soccer | Sleep | 347 | | NULL |
| 172620 | admin_soccer | localhost | admin_soccer | Sleep | 49 | | NULL |
| 172971 | root | localhost | NULL | Query | 0 | NULL | show processlist |
| 172973 | admin_soccer | localhost | admin_soccer | Sleep | 1 | | NULL |
| 172975 | admin_soccer | localhost | admin_soccer | Sleep | 0 | | NULL |
+--------+--------------+-----------+--------------+---------+------+-------+------------------+
6 rows in set (0.00 sec)
At least we need to know is this our fault as programmers of this web-site. Or there is some fault with server?

Any help appreciated.

This really gives us no insight of what is going on. Need more details.
