My Job Farm Needs Centralized Job Status

I have a couple of Linux servers running as job farms using cron to fire off scripts.

What I don't have is a central job notification system. My google-fu wasn't good. I'm imagining using a database table.

The database table schema I'm imagining is:

NAME-----Desc
pk-------primary_Key
logDate--date_time
status---bit (0/1)
job_name-varchar(50)
messg----varchar(255)

I'm running 50 or more jobs a day, every day. My scripts email me if there's a failure inside the script, but it's not 100% foolproof and 49/50 is considered a fail. This way I can check if all jobs ran on a given day and catch the odd failures.

Anyone else set something similar up? Maybe there's a nagios/icinga way to accomplish something similar?

That's very nice, but it won't work in my environment. I can't run java among other things.

You run the jobs on the server, but through your workstation using rundeck.
No java on the workstation?
