Ubuntu vs other versions of apache

Be aware, however, that ubuntu (6.06 at least) implements apache2 differently than is discussed in the apache.org documentation. For example, apache2 under ubuntu does not use the config file httpd.conf but rather uses apache2.conf ... and the default set-up does not match what is mentioned in the apache.org documentation. You might check https://help.ubuntu.com/7.04/server/C/httpd.html for the ubuntu version of the relevant documentation.

Also, there is a nice section on basic Apache in The Unbuntu Linux Bible by William von Hagen.

I'm wrestling with the same issues.

Cheers.
