merging to LDAP

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hello all,

I have live system; server with more than 200 users. Server is running Slackware and is used for mail server, web & file server as well as proxy server.
All users on system are "plain", meaning no ldap at the moment.

I would like to have centralized users for all services and to have good user directory.
I am new to ldap, and if someone can refer me how should I start my migration. What should I take care of? My system shouldn't stop working at any time.
What are those points where should I take more attention so I can be sure that everything will pass fine in ldap implementation.

Thank you in advance

Well, this is more Fedora oriented, but its a very good howto for ldap: http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/w...DAP_and_RADIUS

That is an excellent page and where many of us started. On the other hand, I'm going to push my own page, which covers some things that I felt it overlooked. (Though you'll see that I refer to it frequently).

Note what my page says about the migration scripts--they should make it easy to migrate users, but there are a bunch of other things that would be pulled along which you might not want.

Also, I'm not sure if the migration scripts include the objectclass of inetorgperson, which would be necessary for email.

If Slack doesn't have the scripts included in anything, they're easy enough to find.
