Measuring/Monitoring traffic for VMWare guests

I have VMWare running on Debian Etch with multiple VM's/guests.
Is there any possibility to get the information about how much bandwith/traffic the VM's are using?

Hello and welcome to LQ.

If you don't mean getting stats through VMware itself, and if hints are enough for you to go on search LQ for the term "bandwidth accounting" and you'll find threads like http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ckware-544384/ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...system-236802/ or http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...itoring-74247/. Maybe they don't give you a perfect solution but you should see from those that bandwidth accounting can be done in different ways but often with iptables rules as basis. If you want to look at more applications you could check Freshmeat (http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=bandw...&Go.x=0&Go.y=0) and Sourceforge.net for ideas and then see if those are in your distro's repo's.

That was not exactly my question ;)
The issue: How to get the traffic of the guests WITHOUT using/installing software on the guests.

Well, then phrase your questions better next time.

Who said anything about guests? I didn't.
