mdadm events count
 

When I run 'mdadm --detail' on one of my arrays, I get (among other things):

Events : 6383394

The documentation on events mentions adding and removing drives, failed drives, etc. Now this array did crash at one time, but has been working fine since restart.

My first question is: how could there possibly be so many events? Events seem to be either manual changes to the array or failures. Where there 6M+ failures that recovered or something?

Second question: if the array has been stable since restart (going on a month), what could have caused this? Seems like a hardware problem would have started right in again. The number hasn't changed at all since restart.
