Matlab Distributed Computing Server: Connecting to Matlab client fails

Hello

I have been working on setting up MDCS (using Mathworks' job manager as the scheduler) and I've gotten my server up and running as well as a couple of worker nodes. I'm now trying to connect the Matlab client to the server (it's called findResource()) but for some reason can't find the job manager and cites a lack of network connectivity as a reason.

Well I ran the nodestatus tool from the client machine and it sees the job manager just fine! I checked some Wireshark logs and it appears to be making connections to ports which are open. I also fully disabled the firewall to the client machine and that didn't remedy anything.

Viewing the logs, I only see MDCS log activity when I use nodestatus.

If it helps, the client is Ubuntu 9.04 and the head node and worker nodes are Fedora 5. Matlab is R2009b

So, at this point I'm guessing it's some quirk specific to MDCS, so I have posted this to the Matlab list. Does anyone see anything wrong with the way the server could be set up that could cause this problem? Or have you used MDCS and know what's wrong? :)

Thank you all very much!
