Mapping Windows Server 2008 R2 AD users to shares mounted on a CentOS server.

Could anyone assist?

I have set up an environment where certain Windows AD 2008R2 domain users can log into a CentOS box via kerberos (with krb5 and the krb5.ketab set up on the CentOS box). Users who are in a specific AD group that PAM allows access to can login to the server.

How would one go about mapping users to specific shares that are mounted on the CentOS box?

I would use "useradd" and map each user to the specific mounted home directory as part of this set of instructions but, because the server is authenticating via kerberos and looking at the Windows AD environment, it (quite rightfully says) that the user already exists (as they do exist in AD).

Does anyone know how I can get around useradd (In a secure manner), or what other method could be used in this situation. It is essential that set the environment up in this way and hat the kerberos + winbind method is implemented.

Many Thanks,

MeeLee

~I guess this question might be shortened to:

"How can you use the useradd command to point an existing user to a new home directory?"

Might work?

Or would it? Would the server need an entry in /etc/passwd (or somewhere) for it to consistently point the user to a mounted home drive, when they login?

Exclamation Some kind of response please!!!

I have posted a few threads over the years to this site, that involve the kerberos setup with Active directory. I have had no response to any of them.

Is this because no one has experience in this kind of environment - are these topics too specific / specialist, or is it because you can't understand what I've written?

I'm getting extremely frustrated (and a tad paranoid) as it's getting to the point where I search for something and end up going to my own, unanswered posts!!

Please advise if you need me to be clearer wih my threads or just let me know if you've not had experience with this type of environment before. If that is the case then I may well write my own blog somewhere if it helps others because there must be a few people out there trying to achieve similar setups...

Regards,

MeeLee
