Mailing server for Linux with offline mail storage on windows client ?

I need mailing feature in my application where server is on Linux and client machine will be Windows.
I need offline capabilty and chat options too.
Please suguest which mailing server and mail client I should use?

You need to give a LOT more information than this is you expect any help and advice. What do you actually want to achieve? What kind of "offline capability"??

Chat is nothign at all to do with email. Maybe you're jsut after some sort of bloated Exchange clone? Try Zimbra maybe??
