Unhappy LVM config messed up, need help fixing.

I have a new CentOS 7 box that I just built, and I brought over some existing drives from several other boxes. These drives had a previous LVM configuration on them, and automagically showed-up under the new box LVM config. Problem is, that I cannot erase/clean the previous configuration.

Im trying to get rid (delete) the "pool" VG, but cannot, even with the force option.

[root@hpse1 ~]# pvscan
PV /dev/sda2 VG root lvm2 [67.57 GiB / 0 free]
PV /dev/sdb VG pool lvm2 [558.73 GiB / 558.73 GiB free]
PV /dev/sdd lvm2 [7.28 TiB]
Total: 3 [7.89 TiB] / in use: 2 [626.30 GiB] / in no VG: 1 [7.28 TiB]
[root@hpse1 ~]# vgscan
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...
Found volume group "root" using metadata type lvm2
Found volume group "pool" using metadata type lvm2
[root@hpse1 ~]# lvscan
ACTIVE '/dev/root/root' [59.77 GiB] inherit
ACTIVE '/dev/root/swap' [7.81 GiB] inherit
Volume group "pool" not found
Skipping volume group pool
[root@hpse1 ~]# vgremove -f pool
Volume group "pool" not found
Skipping volume group pool

I figured out a way to fake it out.
I removed the luns from the host, and re-created the luns using a different configuration. That forced the disk array to create a "new" lun which the host saw as empty and without an LVM configuration.
There may be a way to "erase" the lun contents, which may wipe out the LVM config also, but I found that re-creating the lun also did the trick.
