Dear fellow linuxpeople,

I do have a working ltsp setup with ubuntu 6.06 lts. This system hasn't been updated in years and I do have a small problem with firefox 1.5 which is used in kiosk mode.

problem: The firefox is fullscreen mode which is exactly as it should but it has no navigation posibilities at all. I would like to enable the backward, forward and home button only but without the url-bar. If that is possible at all?

I've been looking all over the internet for a solution but it's all very confusing, about changing the jar file etc. Isn't there an easy way to enable just this with a line in the prefs.js file from the profile?


Is it possible to upgrade the ltsp system from 6.06 to 8.04 ? I tried this with the procedure given by ubuntu but all failed miserably until now. I could however upgrade a normal 6.06 to 8.04 without any problem.

The point of the upgrade is to be able to use the newest firefox on the kiosk systems.

Well, I guess my question is either totally unclear or ridiculously stupid... That happens to me.. ehrm.. eh.. let's say "sometimes".

Anyway, I'm doing the try and error dance trying to figure out how this works. The problem with ltsp is that a lot of the documentation I find is either old or incomplete. (at least, that's how it looks to me)

Just for info, I found how to unlock/lock firefox using a variety of tricks and extentions that I found on the internet.

It is however about firefox 1.5 so I don't know if it's valid for newer versions. Better plugins might exist for new firefox.

If anybody needs to know, send me a pm.
