ls command not working


hi all,

the ls command or dir command is not working in ftp server can any one help me out.

[root@dhcppc3 ~]# service vsftpd status
vsftpd (pid 4290) is running...
[root@dhcppc3 ~]# ftp 192.168.1.36
Connected to 192.168.1.36.
220 (vsFTPd 2.0.5)
530 Please login with USER and PASS.
530 Please login with USER and PASS.
KERBEROS_V4 rejected as an authentication type
Name (192.168.1.36:root): pallavi
331 Please specify the password.
Password:
230 Login successful.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
ftp> ls
227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,36,212,139)
150 Here comes the directory listing.
226 Directory send OK.
ftp> dir
227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,36,51,139)
150 Here comes the directory listing.
226 Directory send OK.
ftp>


any help would be appriciated

Do you have any contents/file on the FTP server? Try uploading a file and see, ls command will work

thanks a lot for the suggestion but sir how can for any contents/file present in the FTP server or not.

The default vsftpd path will be "/var/ftp/pub"

Just touch a file under the ftp directory, by #touch /vat/ftp/pub/File1
Now try listing from the client.
