Lost connection in remote mysql access
Hi,
I keep getting the following error when I try to remotely access the MySQL database on a server (SUSE Enterprise Linux 10):
mysql -h xxx.xx.xxx.xx
ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query
MySQL is definitely running on that server as well as the server I'm using to remotely access the database. If I type "ps auwx | grep mysql" on either server, I get the following:
root 22603 0.0 0.0 8188 1496 ? S Oct15 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql --pid-file=/var/lib/mysql/mysqld.pid --socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock --datadir=/var/lib/mysql
mysql 22647 0.0 0.2 116744 21656 ? Sl Oct15 0:07 /usr/sbin/mysqld --basedir=/usr --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --user=mysql --pid-file=/var/lib/mysql/mysqld.pid --skip-external-locking --port=3306 --socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
I have also uncommented out the "--skip-networking" option in the /etc/my.cnf file. There is no firewall running on either machine. Is there anything else that I should be checking?
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
