Looking for a Data storage solution

I am looking for a configuration for 4-5 terabytes of data storage.
Last year, my group uses silicon image 3124 card and one of the Optic data tower. It is reasonable good. However, I don;t like the physical cable connector since it is easy to loose or accidently unplug when moving the equipment around. Does anyone have any recommendation as an alternative solution?

Could you elaborate?

I'm reading this as if you need portable storage in a range that isn't typically considered portable. Are you moving the equipment around your office? Your building? Your campus? The country? The fact you're talking about accidental disconnection makes it sound like you're moving it around a small area so the question is why are you needing to move it?

What you might consider if you are just moving it around a small area is to rack mount both the server and the tower in a single rack and then just move the rack at need. That way you're putting no strain on the connections between the equipment. They do make smaller racks and shelves designed for racks if the equipment isn't rack mountable in and of itself.

As for us we have a full SAN setup and for storage in the range you're talking about we would typically use SAN connected EMC Clariions (non-Production) or EMC Symmetrix (Production).

Thank you for the reply.

The disk tower that I have is about the size of desktop case. We are not usually moving the tower, but sometimes, we just want to tower to clean the desk and the SATA II connector type make the cable to loose from the connector easily.
