Logical on a movable disk

I have a server running Redhat AS 3 and I've just got a new, external SCSI disk array. I want to create a volume group only containing this diskarray - which is simple enough; but here is my question:

I want to be able to move this disk array over to another server running Redhat AS 4 in an emergency, if the original server fails for some reason. Is the volume group information stored on the disk itself? Or if not, what can I do to ensure that I can successfully move the disk on to another system?
