local groups - windows domain authentication
I am currently running opensuse 10.2 on my work laptop, for the most part it is great!
I have used Yast's tool for enabling windows domain authentication, this works. The problem I am having is when I log on as my windows domain user, I have no rights on the local machine - ie: I cant play music because Im not a member of the audio users group etc etc. The is no where in the yast tool that I can find to add my domain user to local groups (the domain user doesnt show up in the users/security module). I have posted this in this forum because I think I will have to go into some config files somewhere to ammend this, rather than there being some hidden feature within yast. cheers Jurgen |
unrelated to networking. moved to Linux - Server

You might be having an issue with Windows Domains and group permissions. Since I haven't run into the problem before (I run LDAP locally instead), maybe these two URLs can help:

thanks mwecomputers - I read through those pages you suggested, however they all pertain to getting windows authentication up and running, which is already working for me, I can logon as my windows user and a home folder is automatically created. The only problem is I cant figure out how to add my windows domain user to local linux groups ie: audio.
