Local DNS server

We have a local web server (for testing) in our local area network. What I would like to do is setup a DNS server on this machine so I can serve names like "client1.v1", "client2.vl" on our local area network and then set these up as virtual hosts in apache.

After this is setup I would have to set the machines we work on to use the servers local ip address as a secondary DNS server.

How would I go about setting up BIND to do this? I have the bind and related dependencies installed as well as "cachine-nameserver" installed.

I'm running CentOS 5.3.

Well i think procedure would be same for creating domain name zone, but in this case it will be enough to put that client1.Also maybe it will be required to add client ipadress into hosts of each computer.

The problem with that is every time you wanted a new host name you'd have to edit every machine on the network. Not very ideal. You'd want to do it once, and then control everything from the DNS.
