Linux printing CUPS - won't carriage return - text "slides off" to right

Hello, I have set up an HP 3300 multifunction machine as a printer on a CentOS 3.4 Linux box ( 2.4.21-27.0.1.EL ). I added the printer using the recommended postscript.ppd driver. When I print files to the printer, they print the first line, then the second line starts just below the first, and just to the right of the end of the first line. The remaining lines are invisible because the are printed off to the right of the paper.

I tried the laserjet.ppd driver, and it still does the same thing.

What do I need to do to get text files to print properly?

Thank you.

For all functions to work, use the HPLIP driver. See this link --> http://openprinting.org/show_printer...erJet_3300_MFP

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I tried it already, and it won't compile. I can't install the dbus packages since they don't exist for my distribution.

When I try to run make, I get:
