Hello all.
I would like to ask if somebody had a successful experience of setting up a terminal server on Linux.
The situation may seem a little bit comic. :)
We tried to share a scanner (Canon Lide 110) over the network (2 Ubuntus , 11.04 as a server and 10.04.3 as a client) but all in vain. 11.04 has 2 scanners connected - Canon Lide 110 and HP LaserJet 1132 MFP. So, 1132 is seen over the net (but still don't scan :D ), but the desirable Canon isn't.
The idea is to set up something like a terminal server, to let the 10.04.3 user to connect to the 11.04 and use its Canon scanner. :-)
Is the Ubuntu LTSP the only solution? It would be great to have something light and easy both in setting up and using.
TightVNC is quick, elegant, easy.
XRDP is VNC over RDP so it LOOKS like a terminal server, but I hate to recommend it. I have seen odd issues with it on some servers.
I am thinking that there should be a better solution than a terminal server, but I do not do that kind of scanning.
With luck someone will comment who has a better idea.
