lighttpd compiled from source, Howto enable PHP

Hello Forum,

I have recently installed lighttpd 1.4.20 from source via dpkg-buildpackage on a debian etch System.

Now i would like to install php5 so I thought "well I could use the repositry this time" but when i try to install via "aptitude install php5" my Box wants to install the following:
Quote:
apache2-mpm-prefork apache2-utils apache2.2-common debconf-utils libapache2-mod-php5 libapr1 libaprutil1 libexpat1 libpq4 libsqlite3-0 libxml2 mime-support php5 php5-common sgml-base ucf xml-core
Well it does not know that I have installed lighttpd or does it? (couse I used a custom deb file). The question now is: How can I prevent the apache2 installation but use the php5 Version from the repositry? And additionally, will php5 install the fastcgi version because I cannot find any infos except: It is a meta packages...

Regards,
teal

Hello and welcome to LQ!

Try this:
http://www.howtoforge.com/lighttpd_m...hp_debian_etch

It answers your fastcgi question
"We can make PHP5 work in Lighttpd through FastCGI".

Cheers
