ldap server is not running


Hi,
I am working on FC6.
I have installed LDAP server on my system
when I say

[root@localhost Desktop]# service ldap restart
Stopping slapd: [FAILED]
Checking configuration files for slapd: config file testing succeeded
[ OK ]
Starting slapd: [ OK ]
[root@localhost Desktop]# service ldap restart
Stopping slapd: [FAILED]
Checking configuration files for slapd: config file testing succeeded
[ OK ]
Starting slapd: [ OK ]


I have alredy started the LDAP then why it is not running.
Please reply me..

Check your logs for more verbose output of the problem.

For my reference, where are those logs located? /var/log? I don't see mine there.

Also, to postiwala: when viewing logs, it's easier to grep for what you're looking for. Something like:

more /var/log/maillog | grep "user@example.com"
should help you out in sifting through the very large file.
