ldap client configuration

Hi,

I am new to ldap. After a bit of reading i have installed sun directory server on RHAS4 U4.

Eventually i want centeralized authentication for which i have configured NFS and automount on the client.

I want some help to configure the ldap client on another linux host (RHAS4 U4).I have no idea if i need to install any packages or how to configure.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks & Regards

Moved: This thread is more suitable in <LinuxServer> and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

And next time you want to bump a post, wait 'til 24 hours are up,
it's part of the forum rules.
On that note: as long as a post has no responses it WILL auto-bump
three times - by bumping it manually you deprive yourself of that.

And that all said: it would help if you told people what exactly
you mean by "the ldap client" ...

Cheers,
Tink

HOW do you login (or, for that matter, attempt to login) when it's failing?
By which means?
What is the error you get?

Give people more detail. Not many of us are clairvoyant - I'm not, for sure.

I used authconfig command and selected "use ldap" and "use ldap authentication"
Now i am able to login with the username/passwd created on the ldap directory server.

I want to automount the user home directory.
Do i use nfs to share the user's home directory and then configure autofs on the client side? or is there another way to do this.

Tink..appologies for not giving all the required details.
