Large File Uploads

I'm wondering if there are any solutions for making a drop box type of server. The easy thing would be to setup ftp, but I'd rather not be that exposed. I was thinking something along the lines of web based. A page where someone goes and drops off data. And by large file I mean 2gb+ of data. Any ideas?

you could always chroot your ftp or put it in a vm, but I think it still might be a good way to go for the simple reason of being able to resume if the upload gets interrupted (assuming you set it up that way).

Another way to do it would be to torrent it to the box. Have a place where they can upload a torrent and you have a program that picks it up and uploads and removes the torrent from the tracker when finished. Nice thing about that is it's completely interruptible on the users side and it'll be verified when you have the complete file so you don't have to worry about corruption in transit
