knfsd won't support map_static, where can I get me a real network filesystem?
Sigh! Reading the mailling list it seems knfsd doesn't and won't ever support map_static.
ie. There is no way of taking two boxen with established and conflicting uid/gid and doing a sane NFS mount via knfsd. So I tried userspace nfs, it does support map_static, but on Ubuntu Hardy Heron, calls to utimes (eg. touch foo;touch foo) fail with EINVAL. The knfsd mailling list suggested, God Forbid, samba. Samba for communicating between linux boxen! Samba config is so flexible, so do everything, it gives me a sharp pain in the head just thinking about it. Tell me ain't so PLEASE! Isn't there a Real Network File System out there which is simple? |
