Kernel Pannic Error

Hi,

We have LVM set in our linux box. We increased Lvm size by creating new partition /dev/sda3 and lvextend successfully executed but we saw disk size it not increased so that again we tried it shows medium not found. Later we thought to delete /dev/sda3 and recreate LVM. we deleted /dev/sda3 and rebooted and system not booting it shows kernel panic error. So how to recover my LVM now . I booted from rescue mode also i cant able to mount /mnt/sysimage.
Please see the screen shot for error info in detail.

Where is the missing device with the UUID displayed in the image? My guess is that the missing disk is the on volume.

So get into the command line and check your existing /dev/sdX devices and see if you an find the missing disk. The fix may be as simple as updating the UUID in /etc/fstab (though you did a lot of fiddling around with stuff and might have lost your data).

First, try 'mount -o remount /'.

It looks like you are on some version of Redhat, so that should work.

Also, is there some reason that you can't boot into rescue mode, and use blkid to identify the disk? You don't need a rw filesystem to get that far.

'it's not mounting' isn't terribly descriptive. What is it doing when you type the command?

Since I don't know, I can't advise. 'mount -o rw,remount' night work.

Did you read the red Hat article I supplied?

It has more direction in it.
