Kernel bug; Invalid opcode?
The server is a mail server. before giving the history of the server, i would like to see if anyone knows what is causing this. It says in the error message something about intel agpgart. i could see this being a harddrive issue, cuase of the first set of errors.. but why the intel agpgart information in the log. here is the relevant output of dmesg after the system was nearly completely locked up. it was strange, i could issue commands, but i could not halt, reboot, init 6, anything at all. the system just kept running. after i drove to the office, and pushed the power button to let it shutdown cleanly.. it sent the term signal and all that, but never actually did anything else. it didnt stop any processes and it didnt even enter single user mode. i was able to push enter and be right back at the prompt. so there are the symptoms. this is not the first time.. but usually it was a hard freeze. no keyboard input at all in the past times.
In the mean time i built a new kernel.. but since this is a mail server.. i would like to know the actual problem.
the hard drive hda is the operating system drive formated reiserfs : running slackware 11 with postfix, amavis, spamassassin, and clamav.
the hard drive hdb is the mail drive where mail is stored. formated reiserfs.
The system is a pentium 4 @ 2.7Ghz and 1Gig of DDR. i did notice that there was only about 27 Mb of ram left free when i issued "free" but the kernel should be cleaning up all it can.
There isnt much for hardware in it and nearly everything is intel chipsets, just built on the motherboard. realtek network adapter.
