Is there anyway to resurrect or connect to a shell that got disconnected? Emerge Help

I get an error with gentoo emerge:

Code:

~ # emerge www-client/elinks
!!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the /etc/make.profile symlink?
!!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?

I believe what happened was I was disconnected during a emerge --sync update.

Also is there anyway to resurrect or connect to a shell that got disconnected as happened here?

If not, then how do I disconnect or kill that session?

I was running ssh, bash, grep, nano (the pico clone), and emerge --sync when there was a network problem and I was disconnected. My isp gave me a new ip address when it happened, judging from running `who'. The command wasn't really important, it was just a really long `grep' command. Also, another question, how do I clear the grep cache? I've edited some website files.

As to your second question,

see the answer to your question in the thread you linked to.

Sorry, can't answer the first part.
