Installing Synchronet and Apache on AWS Micro Instance - Advice?

Hey, I'm thinking of starting my own synchronet BBS with an HTTP front end, just as a sort of hobby and proof of concept to myself. I was thinking of hosting it on a free micro instance on AWS, these are the specifications:

613 MiB memory
Up to 2 EC2 Compute Units (for short periodic bursts)
EBS storage only
32-bit or 64-bit platform
I/O Performance: Low
EBS-Optimized Available: No
API name: t1.micro

I have never actually installed Apache on a production server, so I'm not sure what the performance will be like. Also I have never installed synchronet on Linux - based on your experience with any of these technologies, what can I expect with this setup and do you have any recommendations?
