installing openLaszlo LPS, now .lzx files don't display

I have now installed the tomcat6 package, instead of using the tomcat5 that came with the openLaszlo distribution, due to my inability to make Java work with it. I think I have it all installed properly, but now when I go to http://localhost:8080/lps-4.6.1/examples/hello.lzx I only get a white page. When I go to the source view (CTL-U in Firefox), I see the source for the lzx application. The tomcat server "It works" page shows at http://localhost:8080/ .

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject; I'm new at webapps.

I'm using Karmic-- Ubuntu 9.10, lps-4.6.1 downloaded from openLaszlo, and tomcat6, attempting to install on my 3.2GHz desktop for development.

I think the question is how to make tomcat know about Laszlo.

I think I got it. I did:

export JAVA_HOME=/usr
/etc/init.d/tomcat6 stop
/usr/local/lps-4.6.1/Server/tomcat-5.0.24/bin/startup.sh

I wish I could have used tomcat6 from the repo, and I probably still could, but this will still take more work.
