init uptime longer than system uptime?

How can init process uptime be longer than the uptime of whole system?

Code:

martin@server:~> ps -p 1 -o pid,cmd,bsdtime,start
  PID CMD                          TIME  STARTED
    1 init [3]                    20:50  Mar 05
martin@server:~> uptime
  2:23pm  up 559 days  1:42,  10 users,  load average: 0.18, 0.28, 0.34

Hi,

How do you make the conclusion that init is up longer then the whole system?

Todays date minus 559 days is:
Code:

date -d "559 days ago" "+%Y%m%d"
20090305

20090305 -> March 05 2009. Which tells me that both are the same (OK, did not look at minutes and seconds, but the only one that can check that is you.)

Hope this helps.
