Increase Download and Upload speed of my Vsftpd server
I configured Vsftpd sever to share files for my Organization. Vsftpd server is running fine but the problem is that when my client try to download any file form my Vsftpd server he/she gets very low download speed only 5 KB/sec to 10 KB/sec although my internet download speed is minimum upto 150 KB/sec. When i am having average internet download speed, why then downloading any file form my local Vsftpd server with in my lan is worst.
I also tried the following option in my vsftpd.conf file as i found it on internet to customize download speed of Vsftpd server.
it is given that this allow the maximum data transfer rate permitted, in bytes per second for anonymous client. But the result is none. Please help me how to boost the download speed of my Vsftpd server.
anon_max_rate=200 limits your users to 200 bytes per second.
anon_max_rate=0 means there is no limit !
But if the users are not anonymous this will have no effect on them.
It is not clear where the ftp server is, and where the clients are in relation to it.
If the clients are outside the LAN where the ftp server is, then they will only get files at your internet connections UPLOAD speed, which is probably not 150KB/sec.
If the clients are inside the LAN and the ftp server is on the internet, then the problem may be outside your control.
Only if client and server are both inside the LAN can you expect fast speeds. But it depends on the file size too. You need to test it using a large file, at least 50 MB to see the true speed capability. A 100K text file won't ever achieve 150KB/sec because of session overheads.
client and server are both inside the LAN , but still i am not getting the fast speed . Download speed is limited to 5 KB/sec to 10 KB/sec as i said before. I also tried it by with larger files to see the true speed capability as you said. But the result is not cheerful.
What else is running on this server ? Is anything else reading or writing to disc frequently ? Have you fscked or rebooted recently ? What exactly have you changed in the VSFTPd configuration ?
