Welcome to LinuxQuestions
It would help to know what linux distribution / version you are running and what you are trying to accomplish. Did you successfully install the server and client applications?

Many distributions already include the client and server. All you have to do is enable the server in xinetd.d and restart xinetd.

server is the name or IP address of the computer where tftpd is running. i.e.
./tftpc localhost -g filename

This would get the file called filename. Copy a file to your tftp directory and then try the command. Make sure you replace filename with the actual file you copied.
