How will find out I/O error in Linux


Hi,

I have approx 150 servers, all have SAN and iscsi diss are mounted.

I need to check , if any I/O coming from the disks. where do I check beside dmesg.

How about with the iostat program? sar? iotop?? All are options, and all are easily found with a quick Google search for "how to check disk IO in linux". SNMP may also be able to provide some of those statistics, depending on what MIB's are loaded.

Also, if you're currently administering 150 Linux servers, do you not have any monitoring systems in place now? And as an administrator with so many servers, have you never checked disk statistics before?
