how to setup LDAP server
HI Experts,
We want to setup openLDAP server and later want to add our existing SAMBA Domain with this LDAP server. Can someone guide us how to achieve this goal on CentOS 5.4. Also please suggest any web tool to manage OpenLDAP. I am badly waiting for your suggestions. regards, Pankaj Kumar |
Hello,
You'll not find any step by step, howto, copy/paste guide here on LQ nor will you find a lot of users taking you by the hand to guide you to knowledge. LinuxQuestions is at its best when you have a real question/problem following a guide or trying to install/configure something. Here are some starting points, found in less then a second using Google. http://tldp.org/HOWTO/LDAP-HOWTO/ http://www.debian-administration.org...tion_on_Debian and from the developers themselves: http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin22/ Kind regards, Eric PS: Sorry, forgot the webtool: http://www.webmin.com/standard.html |
Since you're using CentOS you should look into their rebranded version of Red Hat Directory Server. Very similar to OpenLDAP but it's much easier to install and configure. IMO LDAP is one of the more complex services to install and configure. I started playing with Red Hat Directory Server on CentOS a few weeks ago and it was surprisingly easy to get it up and running.

Take a look at the thread I started a little while ago: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...lients-782039/
